Library services for Department of Psychology

We are three liaison librarians at AU library, Bartholins Allé who offer library services specifically to students and employees at the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences.

What types of services can we offer?

Below we have gathered the types of services we offer the department as liaison librarians. At library.au.dk you can find the full scope of services.

AI tools for literature searching

Using AI tools for your literature search can work as a supplement to the curated databases provided by AU Library. AI tools like Elicit or Research Rabbit can be especially useful in the explorative phase, where you may need to explore a topic or concept.

Contact Gina if you would like to know more about the AI tools best suited for your literature search.

Alerts

It is possible to set up an alert to receive email notifications whenever a journal publishes new articles or when new articles are added to a database.

See more about Alerts at AU Library.

Newspapers and TV broadcasts

If you need to find a newspaper article in one of the Danish newspapers, you can use Infomedia.

Radio and TV broadcasts from Danish media can be found in Mediestream. The Royal Library in Aarhus has an agreement with Copydan AVU Media, which means that AU students and employees can use radio and TV broadcasts only for educational purposes at AU. Login with WAYF.

Book a presentation or course

We are happy to do courses or presentations on topics of interest for the department or your team.

Be sure to contact us if you have a suggestion for a topic you would like us to cover.

Books and articles

You can search for both books (printed and electronic) and articles in the library database. The library has access to numerous e-books from various license packages or from the publishers directly. All e-books are searchable in our library database regardless of the source. Do not hesitate to contact us with suggestions to new e-books for purchase.

If there are books or articles that you cannot find in the library database, you can ask us to order them from another library (interlibrary loan) via the form “Didn’t find it?". If it is a newer book, we will be happy to purchase it for the library. Send your suggestion to Nanna, who will purchase the book in print or e-book format.

Covidence

Covidence is a tool made to help with the screening process in reviews. As an AU employee, you can get access to Covidence by contacting either Nanna or Gina. Once you have access, you can create an unlimited amount of reviews and invite collaborators to contribute to your review.

Data management

How do you prepare a good data management plan? How do you make your data accessible? Where can you publish your data?

We would like to help you answer these and other questions about data management. Reach out to us and we will connect you to one of our expert colleagues.

See more at AU Library – Data management.

Datalab

Do you need to analyze large amounts of text or bibliographic data?

We can help you find the tools and guide you on how to use licensed resources.

EndNote/reference management tools

EndNote is a tool that helps you use and manage your references in manuscripts. For instance, it allows an easy switch between different referencing styles.

As an AU employee, you are able to download EndNote for free.

Contact us to learn more, or read more about reference management tools and EndNote on our website.

The subject guide for Psychology

The library’s subject guide for psychology contains the most used databases and help for systematic literature searches.

The selection of the content is based on the professional methods used in psychology and on inquiries received from students and employees.

The subject guide is an attempt to create an overview and easy access to the most widely used resources.

If you have suggestions for changes to the site, feel free to contact us.

Researcher ID/ORCID

A researcher ID is a unique and permanent identification number, which identifies you as a researcher and ensures the correct affiliation to your publications, activities, and grants.

We can help you if you have any questions or issues with your researcher ID or with ORCID, which AU recommends that researchers have, and which many international publishers require.

See how you can connect your researcher ID from ORCID to your Pure profile.

Literature search for reviews and projects

We offer help with search processes for projects or reviews by guiding you through databases and search strings etc. that are most suitable for your topic.

Contact us or read more at AU Library – systematic literature searching and Reviews.

Open access publishing

Aarhus University has an Open Access policy. To learn more about your opportunities for Open Access publishing, contact Nanna.

See also the internal Open Access page for employees at AU.

Syllabus literature and Leganto

We look through syllabi that have been approved in the study board. We adjust the lists according to the APA 7th edition, and check access to the electronic resources. In addition, we prepare a reading list for Brightspace using the tool Leganto - including links that are accessible from home. We purchase relevant books from the lists for the library at Bartholins Allé - either in print or e-book format. We also coordinate with and help FAPIA regarding the printed compendiums and copyright.

If you have syllabi for seminars or other courses, we are happy to help with things like conforming to the APA standard, insertion of links, purchasing books, and checking for copyright issues related to uploads on Brightspace. Just be sure to contact us.

Check out AU Library – semester literature when you are teaching.

Psychological tests

The library keeps a collection of psychological tests for the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences. This collection is ONLY obtainable for employees of the department at AU.

Contact us if you have questions or want to borrow a test.

Pure

If you need help with your Pure profile, reporting publications, or uploading your supervision guide, you can always contact AU Pure support or the department’s Pure-contact Nanna.

Check out the employee page at AU Pure where you can find the login page and different guides.

Courses for students

Every year, around the beginning of 6th semester, we prepare courses for students who are about to start working on their bachelor’s thesis. We plan around 10-12 classes spread over January and February so the students are able to pick the most convenient time.

On the 10th semester, we arrange courses for students writing their master’s thesis. These are mostly held through December to February, but there are a few in August as well.

Additionally, we can arrange a course specifically for your class. Contact Albertina if you have any requests in that regard.

Video collection and video lectures

AU Library, Bartholins Allé keeps a smaller collection of psychological videos (streaming, DVDs, and VHS). These are only lent out to researchers and lecturers at the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences. See more about the collection. VHS titles can be forwarded to you if you contact Nanna.

We also subscribe to Henry Stewart Talks – The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection that contains approximately 3000 video lectures narrated by some of the leading experts in the world. The videos, or excerpts of from them, can be integrated directly into Brightspace or PowerPoint presentations. All the videos are searchable in the library system (indexed as e-books).
