Hi everyone!

My name is Maria, and I am a new PhD student at the department.

In my PhD project, I want to investigate negotiations of the inclusion of natural entities into the category of legal subjects in Rights of Nature theory and practice – focusing on the construction and delineation of a rights-bearing nature. I plan to study these negotiations using discourse analytical approaches. I look forward to working in-depth with this project under the guidance of my main supervisor Morten Brænder and co-supervisor Thomas Olesen. I’ll be part of the Political Sociology section.

I hold a BSc and MSc in Political Science from AU. During my studies I spent a semester at Sciences Po, Paris, and I have worked as a teaching assistant in Political Sociology and International Relations. Since graduating I have worked in a committee of inquiry under the Ministry of Justice.

When I am not working, I enjoy swimming, reading (book recommendations are always welcome!), and going to the theatre. Feel free to stop by my office in building 1332, room 224 for a chat or a coffee. I look forward to meeting all of you!
